It is no exaggeration to say that Ohmachi is the biggest Japanese sweet (Dagashi) shop in Japan. Ohmachi is best described as a large and marvelous warehouse full of surprisingly well-organised stacks of sweets of all shapes, colours, and flavours sold at a gaspingly low price. Nostalgic for some and fun for everyone, this candy wonderland has sweets that span from the once very popular ones back in the mid-20th century to those sold today in the everyday convenient shops. So grab that tiny colourful basket at the entrance, maybe even a couple of them, and do not hesitate to grab anything that tickles your fancy or curiosity!  A shellfish with chocolate inside? Why not! Pumpkin flavoured mochi (sweet rice cake)? Take two of them! You can be sure that many of these products can only be find here. After strolling around the alleys of sweets, be sure to have a look at the festival corner with its many traditional stalls packed with festival toys. If you have never had the chance to go to a local festival, this is your chance to get a feel of one. Ohmachi truly offers a great opportunity to get to know the Japanese culture in a different and delicious way!
