With its modern design, calm atmosphere, large windows, secret corners and Kinosuke’s marionette gallery, this library truly deserves its ‘Audience Prize’ and‘Library of the Year’ awards!

Opened in 2016, this stunning library is the fruit of an extensive collaboration between Setouchi’s citizens and the city hall to create a bright and open space that everyone can come and enjoy.

Its facilities include a luminous cafe space, a garden facing terrace, a kids fun-place, numerous meeting rooms, a quaint event room with a built-in stage, an area introducing the long history of Setouchi city, and a marionette gallery. This is just to mention a few!

The Kinosuke’s Marionette gallery is a pleasantly light-up area where many of his oeuvre d’art are put on display to be admired. This is a great way to learn more about a Japanese art form that truly deserves to be better known!
