Setouchi is the hometown of the highly acclaimed Marionette creator and performer Takeda Kinosuke. To celebrate him and his art, Setouchi holds a yearly cheerful and colourful weekend-long festival in August during which locals get together to show off their own amazing creations as well as to enjoy the many different types of marionette shows held all around the public hall! Jump right into the fun of this one-in-a-kind cultural and local celebration and grab this chance to see a very different side of the Japanese culture! There is not one marionette show that resembles the other. All of them are full of surprises and depicts a different aspect of Japanese History and/or Japanese people’s everyday life.
